The Hidden Edit

An online fashion store for jewelry, clothing and shoes, with an AI assistant that drafts product listings from photos.

In development. Payments are in test mode and the store has not launched.

  • Static storefront
  • Serverless API
  • PostgreSQL
  • Stripe
  • Google Cloud
  • Vision AI

The problem

A small fashion seller with hundreds of one-of-a-kind items needs more than a payment link. Every piece has its own sizes and condition, only one of each exists, and writing a good title and description for each takes longer than photographing it. The store needs to stay accurate about what is in stock, and the owner needs to run it herself, without a developer.

Architecture

A deliberately simple set of managed parts:

  • Storefront. A fast, mobile-first static site on a global CDN, with categories, search and filters, structured data for search engines, and a sitemap. Page text is editable without code.
  • Catalog. Products with size and color variants and stock per variant, in a managed relational database.
  • Checkout. A small serverless API creates each hosted checkout session. It takes prices and stock from the database, never from the browser, and holds an item briefly during checkout so a sold-out size cannot be bought.
  • Payments. Stripe hosted checkout with automatic sales tax. A signature-verified, repeat-safe webhook records the order and reduces stock.
  • Admin. A private area behind an allow-listed Google sign-in, where the owner adds and edits items, uploads photos, sets variants and stock, ships orders with tracking, edits page text and publishes in one click. Removing an item is always a soft delete, so it can be recovered.
  • Delivery. Every change is built and deployed from GitHub to Google Cloud with keyless authentication, so no long-lived credentials are stored, and the main branch always matches what is live.

The AI product catalogue assistant

Listing an item is the slow part of running a store, so this is where AI does the first draft.

  • The owner uploads up to four photos of an item, plus optional notes.
  • A vision-capable AI model drafts a title, a description, the material and the color.
  • The model is told to describe only what is visible in the photos, not to guess.
  • A person always decides. The owner reads and edits the draft, picks the category, sizes, price, stock and shipping, and chooses when the item goes live. Items brought in by bulk import stay hidden until she has reviewed them.

It is the same pattern used across our work: AI does the heavy lifting, and a person owns every decision that matters. See how we work.

Status

Under active development and not yet open to customers. Checkout and payments run in the payment provider’s test mode, and order emails and customer accounts are still to come. Figures are not published here.
